We heard a ruckus in the coop, and there was a giant raccoon in the chicken yard. I don't know which animals are accounted for yet.

Dh is going to set the live trap that I bought for cats a couple of years ago. I want to make sure the raccoon isn't rabid. It's out in the middle of the day and being pretty aggressive.

Hopefully, it's caught easily, and quickly, and no hens are injured. I would put them in their coops, but it's 96 degrees out. In my old coop, I had something like a screen door panel, so that they could be safe in there, but have plenty of cool air on hot days.

This is stressful. And, Krypto is making horrible noises, which is not helping. He is upset that the chickens are screaming and running.

Please pray for the raccoon not to be sick, not to harm anyone - hens or Dh, and to be caught quickly and easily.

Update - Dh came in to put different shoes on, and in the 2 mins. that he was here, the raccoon came back again. I've never seen anything quite like it. Btw, we are going to put the hens in their coop after all, just so that we can catch this animal. I gave Dh my chicken out of the 'fridge as bait.
