Prayers please as I was talking to a woman yesterday at the Civic Center about the hundreds of deer that are being killed on the roads.
She and her DH were in his work truck and they both saw the deer at the same time. She was yelling "Dont kill it!" He yelled back, "I can't stop or drive off the road."
The hills here have narrow roads that reduce to two lanes - which is what the road they were on had become.
She was still upset about it when we talked. She told me the number of dead deer on the roads was sickening. The roads are the main way to get into town. Which is at the northwestern edge of SA.
Charlie & I did see the Fawn and it's mother yesterday afternoon. They hang out in the woods that is next to my downhill neighbors property which runs next to a wooded property. All our maiboxes are along that property by the main road.
I walk the hill everyday to get the mail. Ocassionally I do meet up with a deer and a fawn or a young buck by himself. It's awesome but I make sure to keep walking - either up or down the hill.
The rare ocassion is to have a small herd with a huge Buck with does and their youngesters on the road when I'm going for the mail. I turn around and go back home.
We often have small herds with a lead buck along the road. Fascinating. If Charlie is outside I have to try and get him inside or let his leash go. If I can get him inside he can bark all he wants while looking out one of many windows. Otherwise he now races along the fence barking.
I am hoping the doe I saw this morning - it was sitting in the same place where the Doe and her fawn were - was not the same Doe but alone.
I also have to tell you I have more lizards in the yard and Chamelons then I have ever seen. Charlie and I walk my path at the back of my yard and I see them scurrying back and forth through the grasses. No snakes so far!
But there are tons of butterflies of all types and colors. The bird types have added some new birds with unusal calls. One says "Thief!" Another calls "Kitty! Kitty!" there is one that has a very raspy call.
My rat still lives under the house - which is 3 feet off the ground on the back side. The rat actually faced down one of the squirrels over nuts and bird seed in one of the feeders.
Shoot I forgot to give CHarlie his 2 am pills. I went for some coffee and glanced at the wall clock - Dang it!!! But he is taking them easier now.
I managed to get his first refill of his Gabapentin 300 mg mailed off to me yesterday. Charlie and I are are now both on my CVS pharmacy account. ROFLOL!!!
Chewy does the Carprofen which is flavored and shipped by CHewy.
Both of these are "As needed for pain! Charlie feels no pain on the drugs. I try hard to not have him out when deer are around, or people and dogs.
The deer know that A is not around during the week usually. There is a slight hill and it is one of their fave grazing spots.
Ok finale event from last night. Charlie and I went to bed about 9ish. I have been exhausted chopping down trees, clearing brush, cleaning the chain link of tree limbs and brush growing through the chain link, etc. etc. A brutal 3+ day work out. I can't have Charlie out with me.
I hope Boy brings a chain saw over there are huge 2 inch + thick limbs that have grown through the fence. If the limb is near the top of the cainlink I will try to keep it in place.. but if thelimbs are dear or through the main part of the chain link they have to go.
Ok here is the last even from bedtime when Charlie and I finally made it to bed and had the lights off. I was so startles by a fire fly in my bedroom. It freaked me out as I didn't have my glasses on and it kept flying near me.
I really didn't want it in the house but there was no way to get it out. Sadly I had to spray repellent at it hoping that would work. Instead I had to take tee shirt and swipe at it. WHich finally worked. I was so upset. I love Fireflies but hate killing anything. It took me almost 20 minutes to kill it. Charlie slept through all my antics. It took me a while to fall asleep. I felt so bad. I haven't had any windows open that weren't screened. SO that is somethng I have to check out. I donot want a flock of Fireflies in side.
Well that's it for now. I have to get ahold of Boy to see if he can help my with putting the fence hung.
Hopefully no more scrapes, scratches and other "minor?" injuries while we finish this project.
It will high huidity at 92% with a temp of 87degrees, plus tons of overcast clouds. Dew point will be at 77.
That means I am taking today off and using my new vaccum to clean the rest of the house. I organized the living room and discovered a number of Earth art. I took a number of them to the gang and they all saw the same things I did: Dogs, a bear, people, etc, etc. Even a bit of dinosaur poop. Honest!!! Oh and a small chunk of crystal about an inch in size. I have a huge one that is bigger then my hand. It's very impressive. I also added a few items to give some of them. My yard is full of fossils. I swear I find new fossis everyday. Some small, some med, some BIG!.
Ok I need breakfast - Charlie and I already walked the yard... though I let go of his leash when he found the big doe. I have opeted for NOT being dragged around by me dog. 8-(
That strom we were alerted about faded away so we never got any rain. Works for me. The clouds are around almost all night and day. They clear up for a couple of hours then they come back again.
Well have a great day. Keep your eyes open for Earth Art. It could be anything!
