I wanted to post this before, but I couldn't get online. Ds is having health issues, but he came over to make sure that his dad had his medication from the pharmacy. The guys, and Thyri, were standing outside talking, when they heard a noise about 50' from them. Thyri immediately asked what kind of animal was in the cage. Cage? Animal? Apparently, the young raccoon, not the really old one, went into the trap *while 3 humans were standing and talking nearby* and actually got caught! To be fair, he has got to have no experience with anything, whatsoever. I felt badly for scaring him, but it's for the best. If he kept it up, and started killing chickens, he would be shot or trapped, and not in a live trap. Hopefully, he'll live in the wild with other raccoons now. The guys loaded the cage into Cricket, then Ds drove his car and Dh drove Cricket, and they went to a bridge 1/2 mile or so away. There they let him go, and he took off like a shot, and didn't stop running until out of sight. Like I said, I hated scaring him, but... I think that he should have been taken farther, up in the hills across the highway, but... Cricket can't go on the hwy; he's a little ranch truck. And, Ds doesn't have his truck for now, he has the car that he just got. Since the raccoon isn't housebroken, he doesn't belong in the backseat of someone's car. Anyway, let's hope that he will not be back. Now to deal with the older guy. I don't think that the older guy will ever be caught in a trap, but it's possible. Just like I am assuming that this young guy will never get caught in a trap again. |
