It's understandable why a state diverse with mountains and canyons would prefer a dog with equal depth and majesty: the Poodle. Common misconceptions label these dogs as high maintenance because of their coiffed coats, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Poodles are brilliant, versatile, and extremely loyal to their owners. These dogs come in three sizes: standard, miniature, and toy. The Standard Poodle is the largest and most athletic of this breed. The miniature and toy sizes are less athletic, but highly trainable. And the best news is all three types of this breed are hypoallergenic.
I let this one stand alone, as tomorrow is the last day for dogs in states.
I had poodles on either side of me growing up. A black standard poodle who belonged to an older, childless couple. She was a riot. And, very smart. She carried her mom's sweater and keys when they went out.
On the other side was a smaller black standard poodle who struck me as quite old. But, she was smart, and I sometimes got to dog sit her when her family weren't home. When I would go in to feed her, we practiced tricks. She was a wonderful dog.
And, I never regretted getting Tango. He was quite a dog. Intelligent, athletic, loving...well, there was the glove eating thing...!
