On the banks of a winding stream
Where I use to play as a child
Sets an old wooden mill
Where my imagination ran wild
-
The Mill was long since abandoned
But it was a child's delight
And with its great wooden wheel
It was a magnificent sight
-
From the streams endless flow
Its great wheel continued to turn
Causing the water below it
To both swirl and churn
-
And with its rattles and bumps
It made such an eerie sound
Sparking a child's imagination
Of adventures to be found
-
I would play cowboys and indians
Or maybe pirates, knights and more
Even battling great sea monsters
That crawled up on the shore
-
And with little toy boats
That I would set adrift up stream
I sailed the Seven Seas
In my childhood dreams
-
It was here I learned to swim
And here, I caught my first fish
Then just a few years later
Stole my first kiss
-
And in the shadow of that old Mill
Came the thrill of my life
While on bended knee
I proposed to my wife
-
Its now been many years
Since those days of long ago
But that great wheel is still turning
In the streams endless flow
-
It's still igniting imaginations
Like a great beacon in the dark
This special place of my childhood
Has been transformed into a Park
-
People now come from all over
And countless children play
In my magical place
Of such a long ago day !
