I watched a small spider
As she carefully built her lair
She spun her silky web
With such delicate care
-
She threaded it back and forth
Then she took it up and down
Quiet as a whisper
She spun it round and round
-
It was an engineering marvel
An artists delight
Beautiful to look at
But invisible at night
-
She had built it very quickly
As she was anything but slow
Her web now spanned a gap
Where others might try to go
-
Her trap now set
And with it properly baited
With both cunning and patience
She silently waited
=
She doesn't have to wait long
A victim has come her way
And in the blink of an eye
She has her prey
-
But she can never grow careless
Or her world will end in strife
For there are others out there
That would surely take her life
=
If she should survive
She'll take a mate
And then have her babies
Before she meets her final fate
-
And this cycle will continue
For both hunter and prey
Its not right or wrong
Its just nature's way .
