Ode to September

September is my favorite
Month of the Year
Apples, Pumpkins, Grapes are ripening
Harvest Time is here

By the rushing Waterfall
The old Cider Mill Is working strong
Crushing Apples making Cider
All day long
-
In the Pumpkin Patch
Golden Pumpkins embracing the Suns Rays
Little tiny Spider webs
Are floating in the Haze
-
In the farmers Vineyard
Purple Grapes are growing on the Vine
Ready or harvesting
Ready to make into Wine
-
Bluebirds and Hummingbirds
Are waiting, for the Wind to be right
Pushing them to the South
On a long and dangerous Flight
-
Monarch Butterflies
Drifting silently by
On their long and urgent Trek
To the California Sky
-
So, I am happy
And enjoy the Colors of September
Because I know there soon will be
A gray on gray November.
