It used to be that Coyotes were the desert high country's supreme coward. But with man ensconcing upon their homes and burrows, they've become more forward and daring. This poem is superb.

They were brave in a pack...and now in some places, they've interbred with domestic dogs and that has created a more antagonistic animal. It's almost spine chilling when they sing in a big group...last time I heard them was over by Bend, Oregon...while we camped in a campground. I was wondering if they were gonna join us in our beds!
