" But One Regret "

When my time on earth has ended
And the angel of death has come to call
My only wish is to leave this world
With no regrets at all
-
For in spite of all my sins
Which has often led to strife
With the love of friends and family
The Lord has truly blessed my life
-
Upon my day of judgment
When the Lord calls out my name
I want to look Jesus in the eyes
Without holding my head in shame
-
I have forgiven all my enemies
And I hope I haven't waited to long
To ask for the forgiveness
Of those that I've done wrong
-
Of that which matters most
My responsibilities I have met
To any person who should owe me
I release you from your debt
-
I've lived a very sinful life
And at times been very weak
But now I find my strength in Jesus
And peace is all I seek
-
I try to live as I should
The way the Good Lord would intend
I don't wish to leave this world
But my time will one day end
-
I don't ask for any pity
Or that anyone shed a tear
Just know that once I've passed
That death I didn't fear
-
For my faith is my salvation
And this you have to know
I'll be at peace with Jesus
So mend your hearts and let me go
-
Know I had but one regret
That we should have to part
But each one of you forever more
I'll keep within my heart .
