Deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Where my spirit feels so free
Watching the sunrise from our porch
My wife , the Good Lord and me
-
Nature is still asleep
Under a blanket of shining stars
Far away from the city
With it's endless stream of cars
-
This is my favorite time of day
When everything seems so still
Then a shaft of light begins to streak
Shining high upon the hill
-
The world seems so fresh and clean
Bathed by Heaven's morning dew
Each drop sparkling like a diamond
Surrounded by a rainbows hue
-
Squirrels begin to awaken
Then scamper about in play
As the song of a distant whip-poor-will
Breaks the silence of the day
-
Now robins and blue jays alike
Begin to sing high up in the trees
While the sweet scent of pine
Is carried upon the breeze
-
This is where I'm most at peace
There's no where else I'd rather be
Watching the sunrise from our front porch
My wife , the Good Lord and me .
