There are treasures upon this earth
Great riches of silver and gold
But none can compare to the treasures
That Grandma's Cookie Jar could hold
-
I loved going to visit Grandma
It was always such a treat
Her house so warm and friendly
And it always smelled so sweet
-
Then after a while I would notice
Grandma's Cookie Jar was bare
Grandma would shake her head and say
I was sure we had some cookies in there
-
I didn't eat the cookies!
Grandpa would say with such a roar
Then Grandma would always wink ansd say
We better make some more
-
With her own two precious hands
Grandma always rolled the dough
Adding the secret ingredients
That only Grandmas know
-
Saying here's a raisin to make you strong
A marsh mellow to give you style
Cinnamon sprinkles to make you sweet
And a chocolate chip to help you smile
-
Grandma would even let me help
But only if I had been very very good
She let me use her special cookies cutters
The ones Grandpa had carved from wood
-
Then Grandma put them in her oven
Where each cookie would rise and bake
Just smelling each one cook
Would make me smile and shake
-
Then one by one
We placed each cookie in the jar
Except the special one I got for helping
It was always shaped like a star
-
Then every so often
Through out the rest of the day
Grandma would give me a cookie
Then send me out and play
-
There are many kinds of treasures
From precious diamonds to golden bars
But no treasure on earth can compare
To my Grandma's Cookie Jar !!!!
