Lysana placed a hand on Neven's shoulder in comfort.
The Thief was silently grateful for Lysana's support.
The elementalist stared at the thief blankly running to the doorway with Quake taking point. She had no idea who this Black Witch person was. "Don't look at me, kid. I got nothing. Not even magic to add to our escape. This 'Black Witch,' chick is new to me. On a side note, let's go before the dead decide we're on the menu!"
"SMITH! Get Scribe and go. Tompkins, Williams - knock them back, when we are all out of the room, seal it. Lady Alyson, come with me. Quake, Bruno, everyone, move it. Scribe, tell us how to get out of here." Roberts had slipped into command mode, barking orders like he would ont he deck of one of his ships. The prowess of the other gave him hope that they would, more than likely, get out of this one in one piece, more or less.
Smith was able to free War Scribe from her confinement. But once he did so, the Drowling threw herself into his arms and smothered Smith with a barrage of passionate French kisses, "Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! My hero!"
"Gah! Keep your mouth shut, drowling!" Bruno snapped at War Scribe. "In fact save for when we get out of here!"
"Scribe!" Kana said sternly. "Wait until we are out of this cursed city! Please!"
The Chronicler broke her liplock with Smith and shook her head, "You're right! You're right! You're all right. Focus, Scribe, focus! Escape now, make out later! That's what my priorities should be."
Glancing over at the thief sternly, "Don't use that cloak here. Don't use it at all unless you intend to become a permanent resident!"
Neven was taken aback by Bruno's demand but nodded in agreement nonetheless.
"In fact put it in your back pack, kid. Like attracts like." The half orc finished off with another belch.
Neven reluctantly did as Bruno instructed. For the first time in what seemed like forever to the young Thief, Neven removed his magic cloak from his shoulders, folded it up and stuffed it into his backpack. The Thief felt almost naked without his Weapon of Power draped around his shoulders.
"Thanks, Bruno. That was what I was about to say," Roberts chimed in. He surveyed the situation and continued to bark out orders. "Come on, people. We have got to move. NOW!"
"Yeah! And since the way down is blocked, we have to go up!" The Drowling surmised as she ran forward, "Up to the roof! That's where we need to be! I have an idea."
"YOU?! You ACTUALLY have an idea?!" Irzen followed along as best he could all the while heavily leaning on Lysana.
Lysana tried her best to help Irzen keep up. She knew if she had to she could carry him, but the training with the warriors of her pack kept her from doing so just yet.
"Believe it or not! I can actually have a coherent idea from time to time," War Scribe admitted as she ran up the stairs, "And when I am REALLY inspired, I can even formulate a plan."
Alyson merely shrugged her shoulders, "Whatever works at this point, do it!"
"That's good to know," Willow covered their rear guard, "So what's your idea?"
"So how about idea now," Kana interjected while still watching the dead start to move more, "banter later."
"Quake! How good are you with that cannon you're holding?" The Drowling asked, "Beyond firing it off and making a loud noise with it, can you ACTUALLY aim it at something and hit it?"
Rather than add fuel to the fire and respond with a sarcastic reply, the elemental answered, "Yes and where and what needs blasting?"
"We need to get to the top of this tower," War Scribe ran alongside Quake, "At the very least to the top parapet. Once we are there, I'm going to need you to locate the nearest tower to our own and blast the base of that tower to bits. But here's the trick, you have to do it in such a way that it will come crashing down into this tower without killing us or knocking this tower over or missing us entirely."
"And what good will that do?" Neven asked quizzically.
"If Quake hits her mark," Irzen responded before Quake did, "The falling tower could get lodged into this one and act as a bridge that we could run down all the way to the street. Am I right, Scribe?"
"You got it!" The Drowling beamed from ear to ear, "Evil minds think alike."
"But the debris from the falling tower could smash into us and kill us all," Willow added.
"Which is why we need Serna and her shield to protect us," War Scribe concluded, "That is if our Shield Maiden is up for it?"
"If it means getting out of here," Serna declared boldly, "You better believe I'm up for it! All you have to do is get me up there and I will do the rest."
"So that leaves the precision blasting up to you, Quake," War Scribe sneered, "Do you think you can pull it off or do I have to come up with ANOTHER idea to save our hides?
Roberts surveyed the situation. As much as he hated to admit it, going down would be a losing prospect, let alone fighting back to the library. Scribe was probably right in this situation, but he REALLY wished that some of the newly developing technology of Dunmeade was available to him right now. "You heard the lady, up it is. Fighting withdrawal, gentlemen!"
