"Lord Irzen wishes to make modifications to his heavy crossbow that he acquired during a game of chance," Prince Willow replied diplomatically so as not to remind Lazheros of his embarrassing defeat last night. "He was hoping the Tinker Gnomes could make the modifications he needed within a short period of time. Apparently, it is not possible."
"Oh," Mandur adjusted his shield on his back a little, "I believe all are present, Prince Willow, to await the king's judgement of the traitor. I met your brothers on my way here and they said they would be waiting for you and your allies in the throne."
"Thank you, Mandur," Prince Willow nodded before he turned towards the two Elven Guards who stood silently outside the throne room, "Since we are all here, all we need do now is make our presence known. Guards, if you would be so kind?" Willow gestured to the large ornate door knockers that would announce their presence to all in the throne room.
The royal guards reached over grabbing the door knockers and pulled them open for the party to enter. At the far end sat Sunrider, Tenth of his line and King of Arborhaven with his eldest, Crown Prince Ash, Prince Yew, Horse lord of West Fall and the Bardic Prince, Birch.
"Excuse me, my friends," Prince Willow added before he walked towards the throne, "I must take my place by my father's side." The Ranger strode towards the throne where his father sat, stopped before him, performed a curt bow and then took his place by his brother, Prince Birch's side. As the youngest prince of the Royal House of Bark, Willow's stood at the far end of his father's flank.
"Ah welcome, honored guests of my son, Prince Willow. Many, many thanks for all of you against a terrible foe, now vanquished. The people and land will recover over time but one last matter must be dealt with before you depart." The elven king addressed the party.
He motioned to his personal guard-captain and he in turn ordered the traitor to be brought forth before him. Eilionwy was clad in chains from her wrists to her ankles and had a gag over her mouth. There was a fierce and defiant glare in her eyes still as she scanned the throne room and stopped at the Ranger. There was no love or emotion in her eyes only raw hatred and contempt towards Willow.
Serna silently shook her head in sadness at the She-Elf. She knew Eilionwy deserved her fate for betraying her people. She was just sad that her actions had now come down to this moment.
"Eilionwy, of Springs Well, you are here by charged with the most gravest offense to kingdom of Northaven for the crimes of high treason, conspiracy to commit high treason and conspiracy after the fact. Your open boast in the battle yesterday automatically sentenced you to death by beheading, as all political traitors to the crown shall receive. All titles in your family name have been revoked and the original family of Silver Tree have taken their rightful place as rulers." King Sunrider said sternly motioning for her to be lead out through another set of double doors leading out to the main balcony.
There already waiting for the king and company stood the executioner in black robes wielding a two-handed long sword.
Caliaphy shrank down to the fairy and flew up onto her shoulder, "Oh...I can't watch this Serna, neither should you."
"I agree," Serna whispered as she turned her back to the execution that was sure to come.
"There, there, Serna, I understand," Irzen placed a comforting hand upon Serna's shoulder to reassure her though he himself looked on in cold comfort.
Prince Willow stood stone-faced never taking his eyes of off Eilionwy.
