As Paul says the Gates tension tester can be awkward to use, the STT1 is an expensive piece of kit at around £400 with lifetime chip updates, and does take some getting used to, I tend to find that it tensions belts tighter than I "feel" they should be, however, never had any comebacks when this tool was used, also does poly v belts now.This is the only tool I use so cannot comment on others.
