Awesome for the sack of tomatoes!
15k capacity. Sell outs for A's?
If I understood the article. 2024 is the final season if the "Oakland A's".
They will be known only as the Althletics while playing in Sacramento.
Its Sacramentos chance to show mlb teams the area can support a team. Tampa paying attention?
Sunday afternoon game in august? Keep the beer cold! Those fans are gonna roast.
Sutter health Stadium selling outfield lawn seating for MLB games. I might have to make that journey!
I wonder if Aldos is still in business @ Sac?
Back in the day it was one of the best/highest rated 5star restaurants in California. Thats saying alot. Cali for its bad rep, offers some of the best of the best across the spectrum of fine living.
We used to also go to a Sac Restaurant, " The Great Northern". It was a "Ye Old England" themed restaurant. One might expect something like that to be touristy & showy with mediocre food. Quite the opposite. Great great food. Served/ ordered by # of people in your group.
Food delivered to your table on a 6' long plank.
A whole rib roast, whole chickens, game hens, pheasant, Duck, sausages, ribs etc. Everything Roasted open flame- to juicy perfection. Whole roasted vegetables on the plank. The absolute best rustic bread rolls and a "Salad Whench" or 2 walking around with giant wooden bowls of field greens cradled in an arm. A "Beer whench" wandering with wooden pitchers of dark ale.
That Restaurant was a version of over the top Glutony ive only ever witnessed aboard cruise ships. I think I was 11 or 12 the first time we went there. Maybe a dozen people in our party. I was a bottomless pit bean pole of a kid back then. For kids they had the yeasty version of house made root beer.
The staff was in "braveheart costume". Calling out across the room. Getting the long tables of patrons involved with the staff & each other.
Quite the gastronomical experience! The attmosphere was similar to a wedding reception. Fun, fun place for a celebration.
I cant even begin to imagine what that dinner check would be today. Back then- in the 70's it was almost $800 w tip.
But hey, Aldos would run at least $100 per person w wine & drinks.
I can still see that wooden plank. Handles on both ends like a stretcher. Delivered to our table at The Great Northern. More food piled atop than there is in the deli case at the local market here in kellogg. My eyes musta been as big as baseballs.
