The endzone call on addison. The db left his feet & lead with his helmet. It was a legal play when archletta played db. Launching/ leading with the helmet us now illegal. Is it always called? Nope.
The other call archuletta criticized. The viking player is on the white stripe when hes initially contacted. By rule its a late hit. That it was called a horse collar? Weve witnessed that call evolve over the years. Any tackle where defender grabs high & pulls a player down backwards. Is often called a horse collar.
Bith of these rules were added for player safety.
Ive never liked them. But they are the rules.
They should always be called or removed from the rule book.
The rule book. Its a joke. I watched a few games today with pass rushers taken to the ground. No holding is called. Then i watch a play where the qb scrambles, the defender changes direction & for a plit second. The o linemans arm hooks the defender. There wasnt a hold, but it looks like 1.
How many years have i been saying it? 10? 20?
The competition committee needs to go through the rule book. Line by line. Clarify rules and delete rules. Trim the rule book down to a pamphlet.
I especially dont like how PI is called in the league. Remember when randy moss was constantly called for pushing off? Man, i see it on almost every long ball nowadays. The 5 yard contact rule- another joke.
Really, much of "penalty flag thrown" boils down to which crew is calling the game, and what their demeanor today.
The flags on the titans today?
Watch a steelers/ lions/ chiefs/ niners/ any Sean Payton team. Those penalties are overlooked.
Then watch any 1 or 2 or 3 win bottom feeder team. The flags fly on everything & everything.
The league has its marquee teams. I think they figured it out when Brett Favres popularity skyrocketed, then it was Brady. Now its Mahomes.
Theyre others. The flagship teams get the calls. The Tiny Nashville Tennessee Titiwanks, with a following of 14,672 aint gonna get a call anytime soon- if ever. Carolina? Cleveland? If you want to get the calls, ya gotta have a following that'll blow up nfl twitter. Buy their child labor swag. Show up in droves to sell out road games at those 3rd world nfl cities.
I fully realize its a shitti cynical rant.
Yet, its entertainment. All entertainers pander to their customers.
