Darnold had his best game in a while. The reward?
Vikings sign on if the worst qb's of the current season as his 2025 replacement.
Florio had brought it up, that the smartest move for Jones to make. Would be signing a practice squad deal. Sitting on a practice squad makes Danny Dimes available to all teams. An insurance policy of sorts. For all the playoff contenders. Just in case... Mahomes, Goff, Josh Allen or Lamar suffer a late season injury. Danny boy can live the dream. Get plucked off the Viking PS and lead "X" team to a superbowl win.....
Lmao.
I think, in the bears game. We witnessed Nick Mullins proving his high value as a backup.
Darnold goes down, 3rd & 13 late in a tight game.
How many backup qb's come in. Hit Aaron Jones in stride & convert that 3rd down. Go back & watch the moment. W/o that conversion? Without the points from that drive? Its far more likely that the bears do indeed, pull off the home upset.
Now, from a starting qb aspect? Nobody, not even I. Will ever suggest Nick Mullins should be a starter. But for a play or 10? In a tight game. For a game or 2 to stay in the hunt? Nick Mullins is exactly the type guy a team needs as a backup.
Danny Jones? Coming off the bench in that 3rd & 13 moment at chicago? Id bet the odds are 25% completion, 25% Int & 50% 4th down instead of 1st down.
Best case scenario? Jones gets plucked off the viking PS. Then helps Buffalo or Baltimore win a playoff game. Creating a desperation bidding war for his services in 2025.
