Cool stuff "neighbor". I guess I hadnt thought of it before. Probably, the UP & the Iron Range are the same place. Just on opposite shores of Gichigami. Same ethnic mix of people- back in the day. Same topography, same music. A few of those tunes conjured up memories id thought forgotten. The smell of lutefisk, the girls clogging to polka waltzes. I was really young when Jed(sic) packed us up & moved to "Beverly". Lol, not quite- but purdy dam close! My brothers were teenagers. I was in 2nd grade. If you ask them, " where are you from"? They answer w/o hesitation, Minnesota. If someone asks me. Honestly, I stumble on the answer. Im from? The road. A vagabond. I think? Ive lived in at least a dozen towns. If I actually sit & start counting. It starts getting close to 2 dozen across 6 states/provinces. My hometown? Dont got one. Home is where my head hits the pillow. ?feature=shared I didnt plan it. People with deep roots may not get it. Vagabonds i think get claustrophobia, i think theres some jealousy in the psychology of it. Id be long gone out of N. Idaho if it werent for my physical weariness. I would have blazed outta here back in 2017. Had a place picked out near the redwood groves that skirt the Oregon/ Cali boundaries, a little over a mile inland from the coast. Like i said a while back. I prefer critters over people. And, lol- i think the critters like me more than any people. I recently watched the series "American Primeveal". Definitely i identified most with the character that chose to dump "modern" society in favor of living with the Shoshone. Of course, its television. A fictional story based off historical figures. Ive read Jim Bridger's biography. Its a great read. The life of an actual prepper. Living the life before it was a thing. He was a rare bird, lived into his 70's. Most from that era didnt make it to 50. https://archive.org/details/jimbridgergreate00gars/mode/1up |
