Michael Penix jr- 10.5 Bo Nix......... - 10.1/8 Jayden Daniel.. - 9.3/8 Drake Maye..... - 9.1/8 JJ MCCARTHY ...- 9.0 Spencer Rattler...9.7/8 Sam Darnold.......9.3/8 Kirk Cousins..... 9.7/8 Daunte Culpepper. 9.5 Kenny Picket......8.625 Paddy Macdaddy ...9.1/4 Jalen Hurt-u- ....9.7/8 Who was it? Belichick? Sean Payton? McVay? Parcells? I cant recall now. Said the minimum to be an nfl qb was 9.1/4. For JJ- those 9 inch hands probably dont matter that much playing in the dome. On the road, in the playoffs- on a cold day, a wet day, in the snow? We Viking fans remember when Daunte was on target to become the all time qb fumble leader. The discussion of his hand size being a factor. Yet- his hand at 9.5" is above the coaches minimum- & JJ at 9" flat is barely larger than Kenny Picket & his famously smallest starting qb hands across the league. Idk- will it matter? Teddy 2 Gloves measured in at 9.1/4. And his ankles measured in tiny, which turned out to be the bigger factor. Running around on toothpick legs just doesnt give confidence. For me anyway. I gotta wonder- out loud- Is JJ Mac the cracker honkey version of Mr. Two Gloves? JJ's legs arent quite teddy's tootpicks. More like JJ q-tips. Lol. "Slight" qb's- behind a sieve O-line. Doesnt it hint of disaster? Of course- the real issue is, can the qb avoid the hits? Is the qb's tendon dna elastic or dried up rubber band? Is the Qb's Bone dna Granite or Sandstone? Patrick Mahomes Jr isnt exactly built like Bradshaw or Favre. For that matter, neither are Lamar, Joe Montana or Fran Tarkenton. Which brings us back to JJ. I hate it that the kid didnt even make it through camp without surgery requiring injury- that never even showed up on anybody's film. It's so Teddy B-esque. This past week a story surfaced that JJmac has much work ahead to be ready- "rebuilding his body" to nfl standards was the buzz phrase given. Now, was that propoganda to inflate the trade value of Darnold, or true in the building concern from the Vikings? We will never know. What we do know- Cousins 1st year with the vikings- he stunk. He got better year by year as he gained confidence/comfort inside the organization. I would assume the same for Darnold. 2024 was/is his baseline. Another year should/would bring a better version of Sam. If course, imo- the #1 issue facing any Viking QB is the o-line fronting said qb, as well as the level of a complimentary run game. As the saying used to go- you cant have a 1000 yard running back w/o a 1000 yard offensive line. |
