2025 draft. Is it a deep draft? I think its a hyperbolic way of saying its a flat draft. That the top 50 is abscent star power and is instead largely interchangeable with the middle 50... Maybe even the final 50. Theres 1 talented qb. Cam Ward. Shaddy Sanders isnt even willing to workout at the combine. Theres 1 or 2 starting rb's. And then a slee of the "10 touch per game" types. The best defender is an oft injured skinny lber in need of surgery. No clear cut standouts at wr, te or tackle. The best tackles are projected to wind up playing guard in the nfl. The DT's are a big step below last years group. There isnt a shutdown corner candidate. The top position groups in the draft? Guard & safety. A pair of positions usually relegated to the middle rounds. If Kwesi trades away 2026 picks. To move around & play "big shot" in this draft. My head will explode. The steals in the 2025 draft are most likely coming from the rook fa class. Where "football players" with lunch pail workman mentality continue to bust ass to get better when they make an nfl roster. The guys that didnt get NIL cash and arent coming into the nfl on a pay cut. The rams reworked their defense overnight with many guys that fit that description. Meanwhile- that hyped (im guilty of it too) ny jets back to back draft hauls that brought in a reimagined roster of highly regarded, highly rated, high draft picks. They continued to mail it in during the 2024 season. The league is at a crossroads concerning young talent. Blue chip silver spoon players vs the 2 star junk recruits that out play the NIL kids at the nfl level. Somethings gotta give. It is becoming obvious on sundays. Too often- when you "Show me the money Jerry". You dont get the value you assume. Just ask the Cleveland Browns fans. Watson absolutely burried the promis/hopes of a talented roster. Was it 3 seasons back? The browns looked to be 1 or 2 shrewd moves shy of true trophy contention. Instead- theyre as far away as ever. There is no longer a carrot dangling ahead of the horse. I think, its only going to get worse. A wise nfl organization would look for a new resource to find talent. Perhaps create its own. Something like the various private qb camps. Would it be against the rules? For an owner to sign college/hs wrestlers, tracksters, gymnists? To personal performace contracts. Sign nda's. Work with a shadow staff to develop young guys into nfl players. Lol, as my trumpkin friends tell me. Its only illegal if you go to jail. Smh ... Oh those crazy reds- I digress. If you aint cheatin', you aint tryin! I dont expect the wilfs to try anything like this. New minority owner Tom Brady? You can bet he'd listen. Then explore. Just sayin- This generation of drafted player. They have no competition. Even the generation just ahead of them- now reaching retirement age. It was populated by a huge swath of paycheck collecting boo-boo toe types. "Show me the money Jerry!" You know who doge needs to start firing? Its not the $ 50-75k per year govt analysts! It's the $M entitled athletes & entertainers that have become the role models of entitlement culture. Yesterday I checked into Oakland A's tickets. One of the worst teams in all of pro sports, running on the extreme low end of mlb payroll. They will be playing in Sacramento. At least through 2028. At the minor league ball park "Sutter Field". A ticket on the grass hill in rf is $120 + fees. An actual seat? Lowest price is $145 + fees. A seat in the grandstands? $200 & up. Its comical! It is a junkyard Yugo with a new license plate. Hauled out of the rust heap. For sale at the value of running cadillac. Not even a fresh paint job or resewn upholstery. I know- nobody wants to hear it. And- you can bet I'll be tuning in. But man. We are being duped something fierce! I feel like a Cow on the feed lot. I can smell the blood. I can hear the yelp behind the 1 shot bang gun. I know it in my heart, soon my name will be changed to Big Mac, Whoppper.or BBQ deluxe. But dam this corn tastes good! Will there be more later? ***SIGH*** |
