I did NOT know this or ever hear of this. Aaron Jones was born deaf. I did some reading up on it. When born, his eardrom had failed to develop. At age 2 he was fitted with cochlear implants, and wears a special helmet that allows the implants to stay in while playing. I gotta say- thats downright amazing. One of the reasons i soured on playing sports in hs, one of my teamates- randy- i cant remember his last name, was fully deaf. He had been on every team i was on from pop warner forward. At the hs level, half the team was brutally cruel to the kid. The coach never gave him a chance to do much of anything. It really pissed me off back in the day. There were other more personal reasons that i dropped sports. Lol- mainly teenage girls and blowing off practices to drink, smoke dope and otherwise behave opposite of team rules. I am not the point. Aaron Jones- born deaf, overcoming that to become a respected nfl player. Thats very impressive. IDK that i agree with the vikings extending him to stay. But now that he is staying- and knowing his disability. I'll be rooting for him in earnest. |
