I think theyre set at safety. Or maybe i should say- they have the group they believe in. Hitman, theo jackson, jay ward, josh mettellus and possible dwight mcglothern as a cb/s hybrid. They need cbs. I wouldnt rule out Gilmore/Griffen signing when camp gets closer. Possibly asante samuel jr. Whos reputation has taken a big hit via his comments concerning his neck health. Samuel doesnt really fit the vikings style of sure tackling cb's. Hes one of the worst tacklers amingst starting cb's of the last 3 years. But what he lacks as a tackler. He makes up for as a blanket cover corner. Samuel JR. has made a few visits but isnt getting any offers. He'll probably still be available when teams head to camp. Somebody will wind up signing him. Hed be a great add on the cheap as a passing situation only dime back. A team has to protect him. And even then. Its a giant question mark to keep him healthy. Still, for that reason alone. If he wants to play. Its going to be on a vet minimum range 1 year contract. The dude remains a solid to great cover guy. Unfortunately- hes as brittle as a dried pine needle. Okudah would be a nice signing if hes healthy. I think he only played in 6-8 games last year. It might wind up that cb/db is draft day focus for the vikings. On paper- its the weakest position group on the roster. |
