The more I think about it. The more I come down on JJ-Mac or bust. With that thinking. If they MUST have a guy with experience. Then sign Tannehill or Flacco. But- at the same time. They already have Josh Mckown in the building as a mentor. And in reality- none of the old guys from Rodgers to Flacco is going to bring a superbowl. In a 1 game matchup. Its just too easy to go bounty gate on a guy that has his 40 timed with a sun dial. So? Who cares if its JJmac, Rypien and a 3rd tier youngster. Milroe, Slough, assuming a draft qb can pass the character test. And can be had for a 5th round pick. I prefict its going to be a strange draft. At many positions this year. The top prospect doesn't grade out much different from the 10th prospect. Like the draft when kwesi took db's. Cine & booth didnt pan out. But not many taken in the draft range the vikings held pre trade panned out either. But then further down the list. Some of those guys did earn roles on their draft team This draft is going to be won by the bottom of the scout room. The deep dives on players that didnt grade well but had "football player" in their dna. Is there a Tyson Bagent qb in this draft? I bet there is. Max Brosmer? Brady Cook? Cam Miller ndst might be this years bagent. 5th year senior with 50+ career starts- 4fcs championship runs under his belt. Going 2-2 in championship finals. + Spot duty as a true freshman. https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fcs/current/individual/8 Miles Hastings. UC Davis. I spent much time in the tiny sacramento suburb of Davis Ca. College town/ Ag school. Miles Hastings almost single handedly put UCD on the FCS map. Another guy with 50ish college starts. That a big plus to make the leap to the nfl vs someone like Carson Mertz of Florida Gators. One a high regard prospect but only managed about a dozen starts. Trey Lance & Anthony Richardson- for all their hype. Have nearly proven the thought that a college qb with 6-15 starts. No matter the WOW skill set. Is just to far down the learning ladder to make the leap. Btw- Id take Tyson Bagent as the backup ahead of every free agent qb that was available this year. One of those fcs guy is the perfect plan. Its a nfl career path for the overlooked kid that makes plays via being bad ass football player instead of a bad ass physical specimen. If it was only about "specimen" Joe Milton would be the best qb in the nfl.... Tom Brady. While he wasnt an actual fcs qb. He probably should have been. I'll take Hastings or Miller instead of Tannehill/ Flacco- GLADLY! |
