I would imagine you could look up any church in the area. Find an apropriate charity. You could also call the school superintendents office on monday. They have been very active in peaceful care of the many " Anne Franks" of another color being frightened by the moment. Any grade school principal anywhere in the state could direct you.
Any ethnic restaurant in the area is very likely part of the besieged.
Its killing me spiritually! But i have that book.
It is helping. If ever the lord needed to step up for Paco/Rohana in the lions den?
Lord- hear their prayers.
The good book is helping keep me grounded as best I'm able.
Back in the 2nd decade of the 20th century. My Grandather came through Ellis Island as a elder teen. He & his brother. The ocean journey & the quarantine at ellis were brutal. He forgave those that treated the brothers like vermin. The Jobs they got in nyc paid slave wagesfor life threatening work. Thousands of italian immigrants died while building inferior designed concrete/ brick high rises. Long hours, low pay, no days off. Shared a 2 room tennement with 2 other families... He forgave all that mistreatment. His Brother did not. After 8 months the brother began saving for a steerage ticket back to Italy. It took 2 years. And when he left, my Grandfather began making his way to minnesota. Picking up odd jobs along the way. Always made to feel unwelcome every step of his journey. It took him around 6 months to make his destination. The Iron Range of Northern Minnesota where he heard. The immigrant community was treated fairly & with Dignity. With fair wages at the mines and 1 house per family on the mine property.
My Grandfather lived Minnesota and its people. He said it was the fulfillment of the promise he had believed in. That his brother called out as a lie. He met my grandmother there. On the Drake & Stratton mine Property. At the weekly sunday pot luck. The miners worked half day saturday. Off at sunset. Until sunrise monday morning. All the european refugees of the era were represented there. Even a small Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh representation. The one thing they all had in common. They left persecution for a promise and prayed/ praised god the true America did exist.
Im proud of Those old days mine companys up there as well. This was the same time frame Miners were being shot in apalachias coal field, and the rough & tumble western mining hollers.
Minnesota mining? Michigan too, the chicago, cleveland, pittsburgh & Buffalo shipping & snelting districts had similar reputations. But Grampa always said. The austrians, Italians, norwegians & fins he talked these things with back in nyc. All said. If you dont mind the bitter cold. N. Minnesota has the reputation of treating you with uptmost respect that an immigrant could desire. Im not sure if that reputation is what later evolved state wide into Minnesota nice...
But you can see. In whats taking place there now.
It is a real phenomena. Minnesota Nice. Standing with only a smile and prayerful hearts in front if the Jack booted Evil of ice.
If this isnt the virtual embodiment of love thy neighbor. Then it no longer exists.
God bless 'em all.
Maybe everybody should spend a winter of their youth in Bemidji, Hoyt Lakes, Intnl Falls, Palo, Eveleth or Biwabik. 60 below today in Bemidji.
Only an idiot is mean to his neighbors with the knowledge. Some winter night in the future. If he dont have a friend. Nobody to see him stranded on an isolated county road with the N wind blowing in off the saskatchewan palouse... He be dead man freezer meat at sunrise.
Minnesota nice- it was something i loved about alaska. Same mentality. You wont survive every winter if'n youre a prick. Some bitter winter wind of your future gonna karma your ass.
A society of such extremes. The small shlt never even comes up. And if ya start getting half cocked and limp betwixt the ears. The women get together. Baje you a pie or a loaf. Come by & in their way. Remind- we are a community. All in it together. Swallow your pride- Make the peace.
