Paul Allen paid $200m for the team in 1997. Like the Commanders. That '97 Seahawk team wasnt very good. Hovering around .500. As well, the kingdome was crumbling. It was demolished in 2000 & the team played 2 seasons at UW Husky stadium. Their current stadium debuted for the 2003 season.
The seahawks are likely going to sell for $8-10b.
For ease of math. Lets call it $8b.
That is an assett value increase of 4000% in about 30 years. Or, 133% per year.
That is flat out crazy!
If every resident of Washington( 8million) ponied up $1k. Perhaps that $8b would be enough to buy the team and create a Green Bay style municipal ownership of the team.
FYI, the NFL charter prevents such "stock" sale/ ownership. Thats a shame.
I'd like to purchase 10 shares for my sons to inherit. $10k @ 133% per year interest?
Thats a sweet investment!
Of course- 30 years from now. Its at least a 50% proposition these nfl teams will be near worthless.
