Bizarre/ surreal movie.
Yet, Orwell was writting a fiction. A warning of things to come.
Later, the idea of giant photo banners
did become realities for the citizens in:
1939 Germany,
1949 USSR,
1979 Vietnam,
1989 China,
1999 North Korea.
Hungary? Turkey? Myanmar? India? Egypt are all darn close right now.
Agent Orange? He just wants to be a member of the "dear leader" club.
Its proven easy to accomplish when the masses are uneducated, selfish & encouraged to hate thy neighbor.
That fella that you brought up the other day.
James Talarico. He speaks for many of us.
Preaches the "Gospel according to Ghandi".
To- Behave with, live by the values Jesus commanded and the whole world will believe in Christianity.
Unfortunately, those ideals were hijacked over 40 years ago. American generations since have been raised instead on that Ayn Rand philosophy of greed + self promotion, "look out for #1".
Greed - it is now woven into our culture in a manner that is nearly impossible to unwind.
Jimmy Carter tried to return this country to those unselfish ideals. Most alive today consider him one of the worst presidents in post war history. As well he was soundly rejected in the 1980 election cycle. Reagan vs Carter: America spoke loudly, not For Ghandi altruism, but for Randian selfishness.
Good luck going back to an era of Jesus as lord.
Dollars are the new God.
Its rather ironic. Ayn Rands beliefs stem from lessons gleened from her fathers oppression under Stalin. And now, that Randian belief that greed, not community is best for society. Has brought the worlds greatest Democracy to the doorstep of authoritarian rule.
That is some kind of brutal realization america needs to recognize. It wont.
