I have known a few that proclaim to be christian. Play this game:
When pressed on behavior that didnt align with "word", the answer, the more you understand the "word" the more you are held accountable.

Kinda like the Mafioso that breaks commandments daily, but confesses on sunday and believes that results in a return to Grace.

Ignoring the part about confession when father reminds you the prayers cover your sin only if you now repent.

Back in the ancient day. The wealthy would wait to confess until the death bed. Then confess & bequeath a portion of their wealth. Believing it a loophole. One of the popes back in the dark ages called it out for what it was. An unrepentant sinful life that God would judge harshly.
