The defense is at best- below average. Possible bottom 5 in the league. The lineup scares zero pitching staffs.
I could see Buxton waiving his no trade agreement. He's a good value player. I think just under $10m per season. A menace on the base paths. The other day they put up a stat. Of all active players with 100 sb attempts. Buxton has the highest success rate. I recall the number quoted being above 90%. 93? I think. His defense is a gold glove vote in the seasons he qualifies by games played.
The negatives. He's streaky. I think his prolonged slumps gave been injury related and/ir too much advice from the staff. He doesnt walk as much as he should trading in aggressive k's too often instead of staying disciplined .. and. He's made of glass. He's been a big leaguer nearly 15 years. If memory serves. Only 3 or 4 of those seasons did he manage to play 50% or more games. Last year he stayed healthy and put up very good #'s.
As well, there is not much post season history for byron...
If a team could get him? He'll be a big plus. Defense runs saved alone makes him worthy. Add in that there really isnt much wear on the guy. Ge remains one of the fastest player in all of mlb.
I personally think, the Twins wasted his career. He is a natural born leadoff hitter. But most of his career the twins slotted him in 3-5 range of the order.
Mind you, Rickey Henderson & Kirby Puckett are the 2 greatest all-around cf's I ever saw play. Byron always reminded me of Rickey.
Had Byron played in the Tom Kelly era? I think his career would have gone much different.
