I doubt they trade mccarthy. Nobody will takevon his rookie contract. And the vikings woulnt get much in return. Nothing near top 10 pick value of his draft slot.
Probably, somewhere in the building. Somebody is still holding out hope that by yearsend or maybe next spring. JJ will magically become a serviceable player. Occasionally it does happen with a junk qb. That said. From my long distant view. It feels like the same thing that got him drafted high is whats holding him back. Ego, self belief. A high "leadership" grade.
Perhaps, & its a longshot. The humility of being beaten out soundly by Murray motivates the kid and the player has a meaningful epipheny.
More likely. He milks that rookie Top 10 contract for all its worth. Becomes a footnote in viking qb bust history right alongside Christy Ponder.
Just like Ponder and the center Bradburry. That guaranteed rookie contract somewhat handcuffs the teams options.
My worry, murray shows just enough that the vikings sign the qb to a long term deal believing in year 2 kyler is about to go sam darnold superbowl win.
The reality is. The 2024 & 2025 versions of darnold were near identical. Why one version beat the rams & won a superbowl while the other was embarassed had little to do with the qb, and instead was far more due to o-line quality & a top complimentary run game. Lmao, dare i say a far better OC for Sam in Seattle?
We can hope the seattle connection gm Teasley sees that difference sobber & clear.
