not one of them. Nor Shane Steichen in Indy.
Cousins was actually a good match to kick scheme. As was Darnold. Danny Jones loses focus and winds up holding the ball too long. Not very different from Kyler. Both are better on the run. And that's not a match for KOC.
Of the qb's possibly available? Justin Herbert is probably the best fit but not within vikings price range/ cap reality.
Geno Smith?
Nah- Carson Wentz. He knows the scheme and koc can work with that skill set.
Probably. That's the best realistic change available at the week 8 mark.
It'd be different if it was summer camp or the CBA allowed unlimited practice.
I still believe. It's the scheme and square peg issue. Why isn't koc tayloring the scheme to the qb's he's given? that seems the bigger issue than the athletes under contract.
The confirmation of this came from the mouth of McCarthy. 2 days in new york- "This team is a better fit for me".
It wasnt a dig at oconnell. It was a statement of excitement that he would play how he knows how to play. Play with the instincts he already has. No reinventing.
We are watching the same thing play out with Kyler being only a smaller and quicker square peg.
In the end- coaches that can't or refuse to adapt are a dime a dozen. The wilfs should spend the $5 and buy a roll of dimes. Lol.
The more I think about it, the more I want the wilfs to put KOC on notice. Adapt to the skills of Kyler.
He, Kyler, is nowhere near as bad as the play KOC has created with this pairing. And ... The competition ahead is only getting tougher.
