They really can get estimates for cleaning out their culverts. There is no charge for estimates. The costs should be reasonable and it has been done in the past. That would improve tidal circulation. BV volunteers cleaned the two that we have at no costs to their citizens and found little silt but lots of trash.
MUD needs to focus on the repairs to the WWTP, cleaning up their sludge that has been dumped into the lateral canal and remove themselves from any dredge work. No point in having a meeting with the ACOE during the Sept. board meeting, no one can afford their "help". How much time and money has been spent on this canal project to find out that nothing has been done. Now the board can go back to their budget for the next fiscal year and put money into the plant and get our water and WWTP working correctly for the entire district and clean the lateral canal.
BV has a Water Quality Committee for that costs next to nothing and is getting results from 19 testing sites in the Highland Bayou area that includes OB. The results will be posted on their facebook page for all to see. After a year of study results, BV can consider applying for a grant, perhaps tied in with Galveston Bay Foundation from the GLO if there is any need to change the circulation patterns.
