Crane crashes into overpass in Texas City

• I-45 north feeder, Lowry Expressway flyover inbound shut down

The eastbound EF Lowry Expressway flyover and the northbound feeder lanes of Interstate 45 in Texas City are closed after a crane boom crashed into the bridge.

The crash happened at about 11 AM.

The crane flipped over and leaked diesel fuel into the roadway.

There were two people inside the truck hauling the crane. One of those people was taken by ground ambulance to HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland Center Hospital. They did not have life-threatening injuries, police said.

Texas City first responders ordered the shutdown of the I-45 northbound feeder for cleanup.

The EF Lowry/FM 1764 southbound exit from I-45 and the flyover into Texas City are also closed until Texas transportation officials can assess the damage to the bridge.

The main lanes of I-45 are unaffected by the crash and cleanup.
