Closures on southbound I-45, TxDOT to open 4 lanes Monday

TxDOT is preparing for a traffic switch that will transition southbound I-45 lanes between FM-528 to SH-96 to a permanent configuration on the new pavement.

Monday morning, 4 southbound I-45 lanes will be open., TxDOT said.

2 alternating lanes will be closed on southbound Interstate 45 from FM-528 to SH-96, starting Friday night.

The closure starts Friday (3/24/2023) at 9 PM and will be continuous through Monday (3/27/2023) at 5 AM.

One lane will be open.

Additionally, there will be several ramp closures that also run at 9 PM Friday to 5 AM Monday.

Ramp closures:

Total closure of the southbound I-45 entrance ramp from Bay Area Boulevard. Use the El Dorado Boulevard entrance ramp.

Total closure of the eastbound ramp at the NASA flyover. Traffic will exit at the southbound exit ramp to FM-528 and travel east at the intersection.

Total closure of the southbound I-45 exit ramp to FM-518. Traffic will continue south to FM-646 and use U-turn to travel north to FM-518.

Total closure of the southbound I-45 exit ramp to SH-96. Traffic will continue south to FM-646 and use U-turn to travel north to SH-96.

Expect traffic delays during this time.
