FIRST TIME IN OUR 65 YEARS IN BUSINESS!!!
The packing plants that buy the shrimp that our shrimpers bring in have stopped buying. These plants stretch from Texas to North Carolina. Their freezers are full and have no space for anymore.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE BUSINESSES IN THIS AREA?
We are at the peak of shrimp season which will only last through September. The shrimpers depend on the income they make during this time. The only outlet for selling their shrimp now is through the markets.
We are selling shrimp at rock bottom prices ($2.75-$3.25 per pound for medium/large)!!! We urge your support for our industry during this unprecedented situation.
