Two I-45 NB lanes closed between Tiki Island & Bayou Vista overnight starting Saturday

Those leaving Galveston Island late Saturday can expect delays as 2 lanes on Interstate 45 will be closed.

Overnight starting Saturday (12/2/2023), 2 northbound I-45 lanes will be closed between Tiki Island and Bayou Vista from 8 PM, Saturday to 5 AM, Sunday (12/3/2023).

The northbound closure will start at Virginia Point Road - right after you come over the Galveston Causeway - and stretch to where state Highway 6 and state Highway 146 meet, also known as the Texas City Wye.

Expect delays if you are coming off the island.

(Dickens on the Strand runs through Saturday night so expect delays returning to Bayou Vista with this closure and the new detour to HWY. 6.)
