Thunderstorms are starting to intensify this afternoon prompting the Storm Prediction Center to issue a Tornado Watch for a large portion of SE Texas and SW Louisiana.
Current radar shows storms either side of I-45 from Nacogdoches to Lake Jackson, these storms will likely intensify as they move ENE. A couple of these cells may produce enough rotation for tornadic activity.
The cold front and the line of storms coming with it is on schedule to arrive in Houston between 4-6pm bringing with it the risk of damaging winds, possible hail, and a tornado or two where rotation is maximized along the leading edge.
Stay weather alert through the evening! Be safe on that commute and consider leaving early or staying late to avoid being stuck in traffic as the storms roll in! Storms should move offshore after 8pm and we expect a few more elevated storms between 10pm and midnight.
