SH-6 In Galveston County

Westbound @ I-45 in La Marque/Bayou Vista/Texas City

Total Closure: Closed from 5:00 a.m., Monday, March 4 until further notice

Detour:

Southbound SH 146 traffic to stay on SH 146 right lane and continue onto northbound I-45 northbound until FM 519 exit. Traffic to use FM 519 turnaround and enter I-45 southbound.

Traffic to stay on I-45 southbound until exit 7 for westbound SH 6

When coming from the Kemah/ TX City direction on Hwy146 heading South toward I-45 and Hwy6. That merge will be closed on March 4th directing the traffic North on I-45 for a U-turn at Main (519) to head South on I-45.
Today if coming from Galveston you can do the same but most are taking the turn toward TX City and U-turning at the light of 146 and 97 which will bring us back to Hwy6. That will be closed off on where 146 merges with 6 under I-45.
So hence going North from Galveston, you'll need to exit at Main (519) and U-turn back South and then exit 7 for Omega Bay, Bayou Vista or Hitchcock and beyond.
Heading from the Santa Fe direction of Hwy 6 toward I-45, traffic will still be able to make the left turn at I-45 to go North or to continue straight to Hwy 146 toward Kemah/ TX City, or South on I-45
