Northbound Gulf Freeway construction shrinks lanes down to one between Dickinson, La Marque

As work continues on the $230 million Interstate 45 expansion project between FM 517 to FM 1764, a number of northbound closures will start Friday (5/10/2024) night at 9 PM and end Monday (5/13/2024) at 5 AM.

During this closure, there will be one lane open for northbound traffic on I-45 and one lane open on the northbound feeder.

All northbound entrance and exit ramps between FM 1765 and FM 517 will be closed.

The entrance ramp for the Emmett F Lowry Expressway to the northbound lanes will also be closed.

To avoid heavy traffic, take SH 3 or SH 146.

Crews will be moving and placing concrete barriers to guide vehicles away from work, placing pavement markers on the new lanes, and modifying entrance and exit ramps for northbound I-45 traffic.

The project between FM 517 to FM 1764 is expected to be completed in Summer 2026.
