City of Texas City
Some of you may have noticed there's been some work along FM-1764 from SH-3 to 14th Street over the past several months. Good news! TxDOT has shared that they are on track to wrap up the project by the end of July.
They are currently pouring what should be the last driveway, and most of the sidewalk work should be finished the week after the 4th of July. After that, the focus will shift to completing pedestrian ramps.
For asphalt paving, crews have completed about 65% of the milling on FM-1764 so far and expect to wrap up that part of the work by the middle of next week. Hot paving started last week, and progress has been steady, so crews are hoping to have that complete by the week of July 17.
But before we get ready to start fully enjoying all of the improvements to the roadway, there will be a couple of closures coming up before everything is complete.
- This weekend, the northbound side will be closed, as the next phase of intersection work begins. The closure will start Friday at 8:00 PM, and crews plan to have it reopen before 5:00 AM on Monday.
- After this weekend, we’ll only have the final round of intersection work left, which is currently scheduled for the weekend of July 10-12.
