Just giving everyone a heads up for future road work coming on I45.
During the weekend of July 31st, there will be 2 lanes closed on the South Bound Mainlanes from the Texas City Wye to Tiki Island. This will start at 9pm Friday and will be continuous thru 5am Monday. Plan accordingly because traffic will most likely be a 3-4 hour wait headed to Galveston during the day Saturday and Sunday. Come Monday morning, all South Bound traffic will be moved down to the frontage road and open to 3 lanes. By doing this, the West bound to South bound connector from 146/3 will be permanently closed. Detour will be a U-turn at 519. Pass this along to your friends and family so you don’t get stuck in traffic.
