Screaming into an abyss

Thank you, kc, for expressing what many of us are feeling over these long months. I usually refrain from posting about these things because it's like screaming into an abyss. (Thus, my scream into the abyss....) |
Nobody likes to alter their lifestyle, particularly in the drastic ways we've been called upon to do so for the better part of a year now. I also hate wearing a mask, but it's just NOT THAT DAMN HARD. And more importantly, the science is irrefutable that it mitigates the spread of this virus.
We can argue to which degree it mitigates it, but it absolutely does. And yes, some masks are much better than others. We all have access to credible information. Finding that information is not difficult. In today's world, you almost have to actively avoid credible information.
I stopped shopping at both convenience stores here because the number of unmasked residents/shoppers was stunning. For those who talk about "law and order", Gov Abbott's executive order which requires you to put a mask on in retail spaces still stands. I don't blame the store owners because they're trying to stay in business, but the head-scratcher for me is why don't our residents just do the very easy thing of putting on a mask? It's really not hard and you may save someone's life.
