MUD 12 sent out the boil notice via IRIS, phone, text and/or email. I do not think it is on their web site but was posted here and on Facebook in several groups and on Nextdoor. I think that MUD 12 was trying to make certain that everyone in the district was aware. Here is the notice that was sent: Posted by IRIS Boil Water Alert on 2/15/2021, 4:19 pm, in reply to "Boil water from MUD 12" |
Due to loss of water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Galveston County MUD #12 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
For additional information please check the GC12 website.
