This weekend is slab weekend in Galveston. As you may remember last year we had to close the gate at Sailfish due to folks turning off the freeway and speeding through the city. Extra officers are scheduled to work both Friday and Saturday. If traffic gets crazy I will again close the Sailfish gate. No further notice will be given. Please advise any family or residents who don't have Facebook of the event. I would recommend planning to use the Tarpon entrance so as not to get caught in the traffic on IH45. I would endorse a proactive closing of the gate. Id rather not wait until there is a problem. Just one persons opinion
