To: The "Karen's" That Stole Christmas- Seperate Golf Cart Parades

For those who don't know what a "Karen" means in 2021 Google it.

As a long standing resident of both Omega Bay & Bayou Vista Communities, it's very dishearting to see that Omega Bay has decided to go it alone with their own golf cart parade this year. I know the history of this event where Omega Bay has always hosted and included BV residents. This event has always been free to participate, but I would think that a registration fee would not bother the golf cart participants to offset the cost of hosting.

This action has caused a Hwy 6 division of our community and it needs to be addressed! This event has and will always be for the KIDS! Don't Houston our slice of Heaven on the water down here! I hope our community gives their imput and displeasure regarding this action.

Anybody from Omega Bay is welcome to come and participate in the BV parade. Attend both if you want to-- but all are welcome at the parade on Neptune. The more the merrier-- Perhaps a name change next year to BV/OB to make it clear that all are welcome.

I live in OB & haven't seen this flyer. Where is it? How do you sign up when you're not even notified? I really enjoyed the joint BV/OB parade last year. It would be nice for it to continue for everyone to enjoy.

The flyer appeared on the Facebook Page- Omega Bay Neighborhood Network. It seems that the flyer has been taken down off this page as of now.

I purposely did not show both names listed as the contacts for this OB event at the bottom. The flyer says it was sponsored by the OB Improvement Committee.

How interesting that “South Omega Drive” is the staging area where the frontage is all privately owned and not open for driving golf carts on, nor is there room. Also interesting that not all of us in Omega Bay have even received the flyer leaving many unaware.
The bigger question is why divisiveness has reappeared at a time when most seek peace and comradery? A sad commentary on our
joint communities… unnecessary and unkind.

The OB flyer for the parade showed up on the Facebook Page- OB Neighborhood Network Site. It has now been taken down.

I saw the Bayou Vista flier first last Wednesday that announced the “Bayou Vista parade” going on Neptune drive and that’s all that was listed. I’m assuming that’s when Omega Bay went ahead and decided to do theirs. What is the deal with this?!? My husband, kids and Myself live in Omega Bay and my parents live in Bayou Vista so now we have to choose out of 2 parades to attend instead of ONE NICE GIANT parade. It’s pretty disappointing. I don’t understand where the problem came from dividing it instead of making it one nice parade.

There was chatter on Facebook that OB no longer wanted BV to be involved a week/ten days ago and the OB person in charge was named. No reason given for the split which I think is sad and unfair to the children as well as the participants. The parade was before the BV Christmas tree lighting and the celebration in the MUD 12 park. Hope they rethink this decision and there is a big, joint parade next year.
