Early Voting begins MONDAY - -for the General Election on May 7th! •Mayor and 2 Alderman for Bayou Vista •FOR Proposition 1 and FOR Proposition 2-both place further limits on our Ad Valorem tax bill! If every eligible voter in Bayou Vista cast their ballot, we could easily be the city with the highest percentage of active voters in the state of Texas!

The City of Bayou Vista will hold a General Election and Special Election on Saturday, May 7, 2022. The purpose of this election is to elect a Mayor and two (2) Aldermen.
Bayou Vista residents will also be voting on Proposition 1 for the purpose of the reauthorization of local sales and use tax in the City of Bayou Vista, at the rate of 1/4 of one percent, to continue providing revenue for the maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
The Constitutional Props are: State of Texas Proposition 1 "The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for the reduction of the amount of a limitation on the total amount of ad valorem taxes that may be imposed for general elementary and secondary public school purposes on the residence homestead of a person who is elderly or disabled to reflect any statutory reduction from the preceding tax year in the maximum compressed rate of the maintenance and operations taxes imposed for those purposes on the homestead."
State of Texas Proposition 2 "The constitutional amendment increasing the amount of the residence homestead exemption from ad valorem taxation for public school purposes from $25,000 to $40,000."
