Just completed a drive of the city. Tidal water is at same level in canals, lateral, marsh and tidal wet lands. Majority of bulkheads have a few inches over them and canal side yards have shallow water over them for 2 to 3 feet from the bulkheads.
The three divided streets with tidal water wetlands are passable on one side, if not both sides.
As today is a federal holiday, there is lighter than normal traffic and outgoing tide will help with the street drainage on those streets.
Tide chart for Bayou Vista: https://www.tideschart.com/.../Galveston-County/Bayou-Vista/ High tide was at 5:54 a.m., low tide will be at 9:47 p.m. so out going tide all day. My rain gauge shows 11/4 inch since last evening when the first light rain began.
Spoke with an employee of Benry, the MUD 12 utility services, and he reported no problems.
Be careful and stay safe. Please report problems to the BVPD as City Hall is closed for Juneteenth.
Thanks, Carrie for keeping us informed on the multitude of events and activities that are and will effect our ability to navigate the many obstacles we are encountering. David
