My opinion on the City Council meeting on July 30,2024 There was a lot of complaints about the Mayor and Alderman not doing enough after the recent storm. Obviously the people doing the most complaining were not prepared for the storm.I am 80 years old and my wife is 76 years old. we were prepared..we made extra ice ahead of time and put it in the freezer. We always have bottled water on hand because we see what's been done to Mud 12 by some of this same group of "concerned citizens". After IKE we bought a generator to keep our freezer and refrigerator going. We don't depend on the government to bail us out when there is a storm. The actions by the majority at the meeting was terrible and you should be ashamed of yourselves.Cheering and clapping every time someone got up to condemn the mayor or police chief. Why can'y you act like adults and have a civilized discussion? Look around your city. I see streets that have been patched, benches to sit on along Neptune,a very nice swimming pool with furniture to sit on while at the pool, and a large paved lot to name a few enhancements. I saw nothing under the previous administration. where were you then? To the Mayor, "Don't let them run you off". You were elected by a large majority of the people. To the Council and Police chief, "Work as a team to correct the mistakes from this recentstorm and you won't have this BS going on". I'm sure there will be more storms. Will you learn that it is You as individuals who are responsible for your well being or will you just continue to blame the city for your lack of preparedness? Kudos Bob!
My thoughts:
Lose an election? Been embarrassed? Can’t get your way?
Go to the media or to Austin for remedy. Do your best to destroy your community’s reputation.
Folks who want to be leaders should care about our image. Or, is it all about themselves?
we were prepared as well but the mayor was no where to be found. and the chief didn't do anything to protect the citizens from all the scrappers and pilferers going from street to street looking for stuff. come on man. wouldnt open up a cooling center or procure ice or water from county. they both dropped the ball
