The Bonds are very important for Bayou Vista's future, saving tax dollars for road and drainage improvements. $500,000 for drainage for Bayou Vista is included.
County Bond Issue The county is preparing to introduce a bond issue to fund critical infrastructure projects. The proposed bond is divided into three legally designated categories, with funds restricted solely to their intended purposes:
Category A – Road Improvements * Impacts all cities in the county. * Each city has selected its priority roads for improvement. * Aims to enhance safety and transportation efficiency across the region.
Category B – Facilities Improvements * Focus on public safety infrastructure. * Includes expansion of the 1995 juvenile justice detention facility. * Renovations for various law enforcement facilities are also planned.
Category C – Drainage Improvements * Addresses urgent drainage needs, especially in low-lying areas like Galveston. * Aims to reduce flooding risks and improve long-term resiliency.
Financial Considerations * The bond issue will not increase property tax rates. * Supporters, argue it is a prudent financial move that could lead to lower tax rates in the future due to more efficient infrastructure investment.
Voter Guidance * Voters are encouraged to approve all three categories: A (Roads) B (Facilities)C (Drainage)

It would be more accurate to expose that the bond issue, $185,500,000, includes some amount, it might be $500K (nearly 3 tenths of one percent), to perform a study of drainage in BV. No doubt, we all wonder what they might find.
Bit of a thin reason to bite off on $185+ million - a little over $500 per man, woman, and child in the county.
The "no tax increase", of course, depends on the appraisals automatically going up 10% per year so taxes increase without "a tax (rate) increase".
