Just not true. My 3500 mile old Interceptor has 3mm of tread on the rear tyre now, so it has done 3500 miles without any tyre wear ? And the new Interceptor that I measured the rear tyre tread depth in the showroom at 5.9mm was a factory oversight ?
Can't see RE making "special" North American version bikes with lower that normal tread depth for a very limited market, particularly as they have said that the twins were designed as "world bikes" - meeting all reuqirements for various markets with basically one version. And any savings would be miniscule, as the "saving" of less tread rubber would be more than outweighed by the need to make special tooling & the labour and other associated costs of making the tyre would be the same anyway. Just doesn't stack up.
Ryan makes some very entertaining videos, but take the "facts" with a large pinch of salt.
Alan could easily disprove this BS by visiting an RE showroom armed with a tyre tread depth gauge.
