Fire and ambulance vehicles struggled to thread through the stopped vehicles in the centre lane.
It was hot and after about 20 mins several of us got out of our cars to stretch our legs.
Several of the people from the cars on the hard shoulder began moaning that even though the burning lorry was beyond the exit slip road they were unable to get to the slip road. Their expressions were a picture when I explained to them that it was because the police were booking all the cars on the hard shoulder.
(They weren't, unfortunately).
